The short answer

Putting God first is less about creating a perfect routine and more about inviting Him into your real life. Begin with a few honest minutes, one passage of Scripture and one choice that reflects what you believe.

Start with honesty, not performance

You do not need special words or a perfect morning routine. Tell God what is actually happening: what you fear, what you want, where you feel distracted and what you need help carrying.

A simple beginning might be: “God, help me hear You today. Show me what matters and help me take the next right step.”

Build a rhythm small enough to keep

Choose a consistent moment you already have—before checking your phone, during a commute or before bed. Read a short passage, sit quietly and write one sentence about what you notice.

Jesus teaches us to seek God’s kingdom first in Matthew 6:33. That does not require ignoring school, work or relationships. It means letting God shape how you enter them.

Invite God into the decision in front of you

Faith becomes practical when it meets your calendar, conversations, money and boundaries. Before a decision, ask: “Does this move me toward peace, wisdom, truth and the person God is forming me to be?”

Return when you get distracted

You will miss days and lose focus. Returning is part of relationship. God is not asking you to pretend; He is inviting you to come close again.
